Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a difficult period, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.
This marks the player's first title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.
Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.
His counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an better serve.
He came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.
The opponent defended four early-game break points in a close final set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
